On April 21, the court had asked the state government to inform whether social distancing norms were followed during the wedding held at Kumaraswamy’s farm house in Ramanagra district. The direction was given after advocate Geetha Misra made a complaint to the court of breach of social distancing norms. A division bench of Chief Justice Abhay Oka and Justice B V Nagarathna orally said the high court had received several pleas through emails from various persons from within and outside Karnataka on the breach of social distancing norms and grant of vehicle passes for the wedding. “Is it the policy of the government to grant passes for a wedding during the lockdown. If yes then everyone will apply for passes?”, the bench remarked. The court has now posted the matter for further hearing on May 5. Next Story read more
